Six different places to choose from at mealtime
Food courts will open until August 13

How to guarantee meals for 60,000 young pilgrims The response was coordinated between the World Youth Day organisation, the Cascais council and local restaurants, creating six food courts with various types of street food. Everyone has access, but pilgrims should check the availability of meals in advance on the Pilgrim App.

In the centre, with around 30 street food offerings, will be the food courts of Jardim Visconde da Luz and Esplanada dos Pescadores (Cascais Bay), which will be open from 24/07 to 13/08 from 11am to 11pm.

With a shorter duration, from 31/07 to 06/08, from 12 noon to 11pm, there are four more food courts to look out for:

1. Next to the Citadel and Casa Sommer (Jardim da Parada), there will be 10 types of street food to cater for all tastes;

2. At the food court in Praceta D. Domingos d'Avillez (at the entrance to the Marechal Carmona Park), in addition to being able to serve 17,000 meals a day in take-away format, there will also be areas with microwaves so that pilgrims can heat up their own meals;

3. Hiking fans can walk the 3 km or so to Boca do Inferno and have their meals at the food court set up in the local mini-market;

4. Pilgrims staying closer to Estoril have the option of eating at Fiartil, opposite the Estoril Congress Centre. In this case, the opening hours will be the same during the week, but extended on Fridays and Saturdays until midnight.
